NEWTOWN NEUROTICS – beggars can´t be chosers (LP Vinyl)

Ich weiß nicht, wie lange es dieses Album nicht erhältlich war, jedenfalls haben wir es hier mit einem wichtigen Release des frühen UK-Polit-Punks zu tun. Die Newtown Neurotics um Sänger und Gitarrist Steve Drewett zählten neben The Clash zu den besten Bands - musikalisch versiert und zum Teil poppig, aber vor allen Dingen haben sie mit ihren Lyrics Maßstäbe gesetzt, ähnlich wie Billy Bragg. Das Album stieg übrigens 1983 auf Platz 6 der UK-Independent-Charts ein. "The Neurotics sounded like a synthesis of everything cool in the first wave of punk: from The Ramones to The Clash to mid-period Undertones. They were sharp-edged, but still fun-sounding, with great hooks and melodies and socially aware lyrics." Pflichtstoff!
